Recap of On Invest's Official First Birthday

On 28 October 2026, On Invest held its official first birthday celebration. We've been helping expat investors buy overseas property for a little over a year, mainly in the UK and Thailand. This was the first time we marked the milestone properly, with the clients, developers, agents and team who built it alongside us. It was well worth the wait, and a good moment to look at how much has happened in a short time.

How far On Invest has come in its first year

On Invest started from a simple observation: buying property overseas can mean piecing together agents, solicitors, lenders and lettings managers on your own, in a market you may not know well. We set out to give expat investors clear, trusted access to overseas property, with the buying process handled in one place.

The first year has been about proving that in real markets. In the UK, we were officially appointed Asia master agent for Priors Gate in Birmingham, then took the same role for Cathedral One, a 195-apartment waterside development by Wavensmere Homes in Derby's historic Cathedral Quarter. Both cities fit two trends we've been following closely: rents rising faster than house prices, which we unpacked in 30 years of UK buy-to-let returns, and employers moving jobs out of London, which we covered in 90,000 London jobs heading to the regions. Our Birmingham and Derby guides make the case for each city.

Thailand has been our other big focus. Foreigners can own condominium units freehold, with up to 49% of a building's total floor area open to foreign owners, and plenty of expats are drawn there for the lifestyle as much as the property, as we explored in living well in Thailand on A$1,800 a month. Further west, Dubai is part of our offering too, where non-UAE nationals can buy freehold property in designated areas without needing to be UAE residents.

“A year on, we’re proud of how far On Invest has come, and we’re only getting started. That’s down to the partners who trusted us with their launches, the clients who trusted us with their investments, and a team that never stops. Here’s to the next chapter.”
— Siôn B., Director and Co-Founder of On Invest

Our official birthday celebration at Snack Baby Gelato

For the official celebration, we gathered at Snack Baby Gelato. It was an informal, relaxed setting for an evening of scoops, drinks and good conversation, with canapés from La Cabane keeping the room going.

What made the night was the guest list. Clients who had made some of their first overseas property purchases with us were in the room, alongside the developers and agents we work with day to day and the team behind every enquiry. For a business that works mostly across screens and time zones, getting everyone in one place was the real highlight.

An official thank you

A first birthday is a good excuse to say thank you properly, and to three groups in particular:

  • Our developers and agents, for trusting a young business with their launches and working alongside us.

  • Our clients, for backing us with some of the biggest financial decisions they'll make.

  • Our team, for the work behind every enquiry, reservation and completion.

What's next for On Invest

The focus for year two stays the same: bring well-researched property opportunities across all our markets to expat investors, and keep earning the trust that got us here. To see what we're working on next, read our latest property news or get in touch with our team.
